Listed among the most prestigious venues on Lake Como by Harpers Bazaar and Vogue US, Villa Balbiano, with its charming views across Lake Como to the distant mountains, its immense Italian garden and a private pier, is a perfect backdrop for a fairytale wedding.
Originally built in the 16th century by Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, it was later embellished in the late 18th century by the famous Cardinal Durini.
After 2011, Villa Balbiano became the ownership of The Heritage Collection, an impressive collection of properties located both throughout Italy and France.
The property has recently been completely renovated, all of its original frescos on the walls and ceilings are restored. It consists of a full on luxury interior with ornate marble floors, antique furniture and furnishing of the highest quality.
Villa Balbiano is situated in the small town of Ossuccio, just outside the town of Lenno, on the western shore of Lake Como.
Villa Balbiano, occupying over 2ha, is the largest private residence on the lake.
This venue has a private pier with boathouse and two pools, outdoor and indoor. The real pearl of the property is, however, its Italian style garden enhanced with statues, fountains and magnificent trees, box hedges and pergolas that allow for multiple uses of the spaces.
On the back of Villa Balbiano there is a splendid terrace overlooking Lake Como which, with its panoramic lake views and direct access by boat, is a perfect space for the fateful “yes”.
The space is large enough to accommodate up to 300 guests seated.
In the colder months or in case of rain, the halls inside the villa can host up to 50 guests seated.
Entering the impressive gateway, a beautiful green corridor leads to a square in front of the Villa where a small aperitif or wedding banquet can be set up.
The large expanse of garden next to the pool, instead, makes the perfect location for plentiful events. In this area different styles of marquee structure can be installed without spoiling the beauty of the surroundings.
The music curfew outside is till 11pm. Late night partying can continue in the luxurious atrium of the villa till 02.00 or even later for extra cost.
The minimum stay is generally 3 days and 2 nights, however, there can be other options too: the Villa can be rented also for only 24 hours or for 2 days and 1 night. The second option, however, is not available on weekends in May – October, but only on weekdays.
Villa Balbiano has 6 gorgeous suites for 12 adults in the main building. The wing and a small Viletto can accommodate together other 18 guests.
